Yorii-za was a theater long ago - both movies and live theater. Then it was a textile factory up until a few years ago. It had been sitting empty when Green Valley decided to renovate it and use it as an event/art space. There was a low ceiling put in when it was converted to a factory so it would be easier to heat, but this was taken away today to reveal the original ceiling, which is covered in old advertisements for local businesses.

This was after they took away the old ceiling but before they’d taken away the little beams which held the lower ceiling there. You can see the wood hanging down.

Chan made a delicious lunch for everyone of butter chicken, green pea rice, chickpea salad, and naan. There was Moroccan-style mint tea, too!

You can see the old low Yorii-za ceiling panels stacked up and bound with old wires.
