One night by the light of Emma’s bright electric porch light. A tiny egg lay on a pansy leaf.
The sun came up and ‘POP’ out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar. He started to look around for some food.
On Monday he ate all the leaves off the pretty yellow pansy plant. But he was still hungry.
On Tuesday he ate all the leaves off Emma’s favourite orange pansy plant. But he was still hungry.
On Wednesday he ate all of the purple pansy plant, But he was still hungry.
On Thursday he ate most of the pale pink pansy plant
Now, Emma’s pansies weren’t pansies anymore and he wasn’t a tiny caterpillar anymore. He was a BIG, FAT caterpillar.
He hung upside down for a while to observe the destruction. Then he built a hard case around himself called a chrysalis.
He stayed inside for 10 days. Then he pushed his way out. He was a beautiful ……
