Finally we got our first visitor from Kamiyama at our place in Holland. Spring is just starting and we celebrate it together with Rika and our donkey. Rika said: “Kamiyama makes strong bonds between people!” Tonight she will make us okonomiyaki. As you can imagine we miss the mountains very much.

Today it is the last day of the exhibition.
It is a bit cold and rainy, but at all the exhibition sites I meet other visitors.
For everybody who missed it, I have put all my Kamiyama works together on this page.

Last week Pat and I left Shikoku and paid a visit to the city of Nara. When we finally arrived there it was already evening. The first impression of the dark, silent town was enchanting. Our walk led through narrow streets, on a path uphill to a scarcely lighted temple, where we had an unexpected [...]

Often I find a motive for my site specific artwork in picking up threads from an old/local tradition. But as I came to Kamiyama I found the ancient tradition of walking the pilgrim route around Shikoku to be alive and kicking.

Yesterday, 2 October, was a very concrete day. At 9 o’ clock Kamiyama time (which surprises us time and again to be half an hour before the actual appointment) all concrete people gathered at the cinnamon tree, Ohaja mountain. Mori-san, the concrete expert, Chan, Pat and me were there, and soon arrived also the very [...]
