‘Exploring Life with forests’ Film Caravan Project

Project Outline:
As part of the ‘Exploring Life with forests’ Film Caravan Project,you will be given a chance to spend a week with a Japanese filmmaker exploring the theme of ‘the Forest and Daily Life.’

We are currently taking applications from young foreign filmmakers who wish to have the opportunity to document the amazing scenery, natural beauty and fascinating lifestyles that they will encounter during their sojourn in the unspoilt Japanese countryside.

We believe that this provides an ideal opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to savor the wonders of rural Japan, while at the same time allowing participants the chance to sample the diverse range of experiences that Japan’s forests offer visitors.

Categories:
A. Young filmmakers (20-35 years old at the time of application) from the Asia-Pacific region.
B. Young foreign filmmakers who currently reside in Japan.

Number of positions:
A. 1 to 2 persons
B. 2 to 3 persons

Requirements:
– Valid passport
– Visa for traveling
– One’s own camera and other equipment (equipment can be rented　for afee.)
– Being able to promote the project worldwide through events overseas, online on Facebook, Twitter or other SNS sites, and so on.

Emoluments:
– All travel expenses, transportation costs and accommodation costs will be covered by the organizers.
– A small participation gratuity will also be given to successful applicants.

Time Period:
Participants are required to attend several meetings before and after the filming.
(They can be done online.)
One week filming between 1/6/2013-31/1/2014, with exact dates to be negotiated inadvance with local authorities in the filming area.Participants can leave after the filming is completed.
Subsequent to this, successful applicants will be expected to join a number of video conferences as part of a symposium to be held for this project in Kamiyama City, Tokushima Prefecture Japan between 8/2/2014.
