White Noises
Adam's Diary 2009.2.10
In the nest, the robin quizzed her chicks about the procedures for hunting spring worms.
The chicks were distracted by the circling hawks and smell of chicken nuggets from the fat kid below, so mom emitted a warble of white noise from her throat that wiped the slates of their brains clean. She learned this technique whilst listening for night crawlers near the compost pile on the next farm, where pumpkin and trout thieves were often subjected to white noise by the farmers in order to disorientate the subjects before interrogation.
