for the past two nights, a monkey has clambered across my rooftop.

for the past two nights, i have turned off the lights to look out the window for her.

for the past two nights, i have only seen stars.

as i was typing this sad attempt at a Monday night poem…i thought about falling stars the size of atoms pattering the roof…maybe that was the noise…then I became truly horrified…what if the sound i heard was actually the sound of the child of Santa Claus and a gorilla…who is trying to contact his star sister by pulling out his teeth and trying to spell out “HELP”.  as we all know, teeth DO reflect moonlight better than tears.
