The Continuing Story of the Cinnamon Tree
2008 2008.9.24
I went to see the place near the cinnamon tree where Mr. Mori, Mr. Higashidani, and Mr. Fujimoto dug a hole for Karin's work.
Just then, Chalice had come all the way to Kamiyama from Takamatsu via train and bus so we went there together.
When we got there, Karin just happened to be inside the hole, so it was very good timing all around. (ha ha)
Soon after, Andrea came, and then Mr. Mori brought Mr. Kawano from Kawano Construction so they could talk about plastering the hole with reinforced concrete.
Since it was a meeting, they asked "Nikolai, who speaks very little English" to interpret. But I couldn't do it. I don't understand the details.
Chalice was there, so I thought, "Yeah, she'll save me."
But actually, while she understands English very well, her Japanese isn't so great.
In the end, we both interpreted, but I wonder if Kawano Construction really understood what we were talking about. (ha ha)
They're planning to lay the concrete towards the end of the month, and at that time, Chan will be on hand to interpret.
In the background of the title picture, you can see Andrea ignoring us all and looking at the cinnamon tree with great interest. (ha ha)
Karin seems to be saying "I dig the earth."
They're both so tall!
I figured I might as well do a close-up too. (ha ha)
Sorry, I hope I don't break your computer with that last picture of the guy in the red shirt.
