Karin and Pat’s “In Kamiyama”
2008 2009.1.21
A book entitled "In Kamiyama" arrived from KAIR 2008 participants Karin and Pat. It's self-published. A forty-some page book, it contains photos of their artworks and it's stuffed to overflowing with love for Kamiyama.
Wonderful!
Normal everyday scenery is transformed into something arresting. It's funny how that works.
The video that was displayed in Pat's installation at Josai High School and the documentary that Pat made for Dutch TV about the Shikoku Pilgrimage are also contained on a DVD – it's must-see stuff!
He seemed to have his hands full on his daily "kazura hunt" for supplies for his wife's artworks, but in fact he was doing a lot more… Amazing…(haha)
*The book and DVD are being stored at the Kaizen Center. Please drop by if you'd like to take a look.
Oh yes, and in the book was this hand-written inscription:
To Ominami-san
for being our help, mediator and generous host in Kamiyama
with gratitude
Karin and Pat
I don't really understand the English, but I'm sure it must say "To Mr. Ominami, number one man in all Kamiyama." Surely… (haha)
