Lost Photographs (Awa Odori 2011)
Diary 2011.9.19
For one reason or another sometimes I don’t get round to making a post and the photographs and memories become lost somewhere digital and they never see the light of day. I’m going to do some posts using these lost photographs because time in the digital world is subjective…isn’t it?
Who is this? Tanaka san, film director of Kamiyama Philfarmony. Dancing the Awa Odori with a cigarette. He disappeared that night.
Some testosterone-fuelled dudes with identical hair colour (unintentional). Later that night I saw them necking huge sake bottles.
An interesting style. It was hard to take your eyes of him. I regret I didn’t see him dancing.
The King of Comedy, perched on someone elses bike, resting.
Who is this guy? He seemed to be on his own, without a ren, perhaps separated from them. The Japanese Roy Orbison. He seemed fresh and calm, like he was wearing a disguise.
Adam san, perfect matching headband, beer, wet shirt, shock. He was entertained by Nicolai on this night. We met them underneath King Kong, where the Miyagi’s play. A good place to dance, the music is good and the singing is good and it’s a nice circular dancefloor (but the music is repetitive).
He danced with a beer can on his head. I am trying to remember if it was a full can of beer…perhaps not, but it must have had some liquid inside for a bit of stability. Where did he learn this? I can’t remember.
Walking back to the car afterwards, I saw a green moth. It was so quiet. It reminded me of a scene from a film but I can’t remember the name.
