English Parents in Kamiyama – Day Three
Diary 2011.12.19
English Parents feel the need to explore. English Parents sanpo suru in Kamibun. They have no battery in their camera so they take Ru san’s camera with trepidation. Returning before lunch the English Parents seem perky and energized. The weather is bright, sunny and chilly: perfect for walking. After an instant ramen lunch and a cup of tea they announce another sanpo suru, a circular walk up to Eta and back around, following the roads. Batteries charged. I give them a phrasebook and my keitai for emergencies, then I watch them put shoes on slowly and lurch out of the house elegantly. I asked them to take some pictures of things and themselves along the way. I said ‘ask someone to take pictures of you two together’. They didn’t see anyone at all.. so those circular mirrors came in very handy. Anyway, here they are:
That evening English Parents experienced nabe for the first time. Kimuchi nabe, with hakusai and a bunch of other bits and pieces. And lots of beer..
