February Forestry Day
Diary 2009.2.18
On February 15 (Sunday) starting at 9:00, we had our monthly Awafu Forestry Management day.
On the far right is Emma, who made the chocolate cake you can see in the title photography. (Last year when I ate the chocolate that Emma made, I thought I’d die… that’s how sweet it was, but) this year it was just the right amount of sweetness, very tasty.
Last year was chocolate, with sugar added, plus condensed milk on top of that… really crazy chocolate. (haha)
The photo below is cake made with zucchini.
Green Valley’s Keiko made it.
It was also very delicious.
Keiko is the one on the far left.
I said I’d take a close-up shot, and this is what happened.
She succeeded in hiding her face, but in the process revealed her giant hand… what a tragedy.
Students came from Josai High School. (Some first-timers here.)
You can see their teacher, Ms. Yokohata, on the far left. Very lovely.
Some female students who came to help.
(Still at the height of their shy phase)
The flagship team of old guys. (Higuchiyama, close your gigantic mouth!)
Now for the main event, today’s lunch.
Pork soup made with homemade miso by Mr. Ominami’s wife. Salad. Pickles.
It was delicious.
Mr. Ominami’s wife is the one on the left.
On the right, you can see Green Valley’s own “Satchan”
Mr. Nakawaki came all the way from Izumi, in Hyogo.
He was very impressed by the pork soup: “I never knew there was such good pork soup in this world!”
He’s got such a great smile.
The three o’clock snack.
Pretty luxurious, isn’t it!
Afterwards, I took Mr. Nakawaki, who came from Izumi City, to Kamiyama Onsen.
After that, I took him to the Aihara’s place, and we had dinner there.
We had kiritanpo nabe. I ate until I thought I would burst. Not only that, but we got to enjoy the natural comedic conversation of the Aiharas, which is better than TV. Mr. Nakawaki and I were practically rolling around laughing.
Mr. Nakawaki spent that night at the Aihara’s place.
Mr. and Mrs Aihara, thanks for always being so kind and generous.
We’re all so grateful!!
And finaly, to Mitsuyo Matsumura from Matsuba-an.
Thank you for once again supplying the delicious coffee for the day.
