Bus to Kamiyama from Tokushima City

Kamiyama can be accessed by local bus from Tokushima JR Station (60 min). The bus leaves from the #4 bus platform in front of Tokushima Station. The bus number is 56, 57, or 58, bound for Yori-naka (寄井中). It costs 900 – 1000 yen to get from Tokushima JR Station to Kamiyama depending on where you get off. The most expensive price listed on the board above the driver will be the fare. Pay when you get off.

– Nakatu : Kaizen Center (Greenvalley /KAIR office)
– Kamiyama spa mae(announcement would say "Kamiyama onsen mae") : Kamiyama onsen spa
– Uetuno : Michi no Eki-farmer's market, cotton field camping site, Kamiyama beer
– Yori naka : Yorii-za Theater, on y va, Mamechiyo coffee roastery.  They stop at the one block south of route 438.  Along route 438, there are convenience store, Kamaya restaurant&bakery, post office.  
The bus doesn't go as far as Shimobun Atelier. If you want to go there, you need to arrange a ride with someone.

There are about 18 runs per day on weekdays and 13 runs per day on weekends and national holidays. The last bus to the city at night leaves Kamiyama at 19:20. The last bus to Kamiyama at night leaves the city at 19:45 on weekdays and weekends.

It takes 30-40 minutes to drive to Kamiyama by car from Tokushima City. Unfortunately, there is no train line running to Kamiyama.

Access Tokushima City

By Air

The closest airport to Kamiyama is Tokushima Airport. There are flights from Tokyo (6 x daily – JAL), Nagoya (2 x daily – ANA), Fukuoka (2 x daily – JAL), and Sapporo (seasonal – JAL). There is a 30 min shuttle bus from Tokushima Airport to Tokushima JR Station which costs 420 yen.

If you arrive in Japan via Narita Airport in Tokyo, take a shuttle bus from Narita to Haneda Airport, and fly to Tokushima from there.

If you arrive in Japan via Kansai Airport, or from another part of Japan to Kobe Airport or Osaka’s Itami Airport, you can catch a highway bus from there to Tokushima City. There are direct buses from Kansai and Kobe Airports. From Itami, you will have to change buses at Osaka Umeda station or Kobe Sannomiya station.

Highway Bus

The most convenient and affordable way to get to Tokushima from the Kansai area (Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, etc) is via highway bus. There are several runs daily from Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe. There is also daily service from Takamatsu, Kochi, Matsuyama, Kurashiki, Okayama, and Hiroshima. Overnight buses leave Tokyo and Nagoya nightly. The final stop for all these buses is Tokushima JR station.

By Train

If you have a Japan Rail Pass and you’d like to make use of train lines as much as possible, you can access Tokushima City via Okayama station. Take a train from Okayama station to Takamatsu station (via the Seto Ohashi bridge – 65 min) then transfer to a train bound for Tokushima (60 min). If you are coming via Shinkansen from Nagoya or Tokyo, it is faster to get off at Shin-kobe station and take a bus to Tokushima station from there than it is to take the train around.
