+Kamiyama will become one!+

Finally our very first rehearsal for Kamiyama Philfarmony was held on the 1st June.

20 enthusiastic people including Fuku chan from Kochi Pref. joined rehearsals that night.
First we did a review from the previous workshop.

We were put into pairs to practice the ‘body percussion’.

You probably have seen this plastic crates full of Sudachi-the local speciality in Kamiyama.
Rick calls it a ‘Sudachi-box’.
This is one of his favourite instruments so far. Needless to say he can easily turn anything into instruments.
He told us that every sound becomes rhythm and everything becomes instruments in front of him, which he proved successfully and fantastically.

In groups of four we took turns to stand on the stage in a circle and in perfect harmony (!) banged and slid the sudachi boxes around to one another.

Meanwhile, Team Oyaji-san’s performance was particularly good and they made it seem all too easy. We were witness to the birth of the Oyaji Stomp!

We’ll do our best and continue practicing as often as we can.
It is already so much fun and we can’t wait to see the final piece!
