Indigo Museum
Diary 2008.9.15
The dioramas at the Indigo Museum were very inspiring. Photographed in a certain kind of light they didn’t only tell a story but became poetic, magical worlds I wanted to step into and be part of. The process of indigo dying was something I’d very much like to explore further. I see a lot of creative potential in ise-katagami paper cutting and indigo dying. I am now thinking of how these could be incorporated into my project, possibly combined with photography, lighting and animation. And as I read Lafcadio Hearn’s “In Ghostly Japan” and wander around Kamiyama discovering all things local I am also looking forward to see fusuma-e in action.
