Pics from the Ka-Mi-Ya-Market
Diary 2010.11.28
Sofie and I went up to Kamiyama for the special market today. Lots of good food was available for sale, and there were several kotatsu tables set up on top of tatami mats inside the Yorii-za theater which was the perfect place to sit and eat, and to enjoy the entertainment: a pantomime, and live music too!
Hayabuchi-kun made a giant labyrinth.
Ru and Eri made a sudachi-themed…um, what are these called? Souvenir face cutout picture board?
Lots of people brought their own cups and bowls.
Most vendors had their own real dishes for people to use though, or just used pieces of paper towel to serve things. Sofie and I ate some of the Miyagi’s pocket pizza, which they served inside an unbleached paper coffee filter.
Tsuyoshi cooked up some of his rice for people to try. It’s good and sticky. Eat a bowl of this and your tummy will be full and warm for a long time.
There was a pantomime show inside the theater.
Inagaki-san saw my blog entry from my summer trip to Canada about face painting at a festival (here it is! in Japanese) and decided to offer face painting at the market! Wonderful. Lots of people were walking around with painted faces by the end of the day.
It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday. Can’t wait for the next one.
